Mobile Home

In flood insurance, the term “mobile home” is commonly used interchangeably with “manufactured home.” It describes a factory-built home that is transportable in one or more sections, built on a permanent chassis, and designed to be used with or without a permanent foundation when connected to required utilities.

Many insurance and housing resources also use “mobile home” to describe older factory-built homes (especially those built before modern HUD standards). In NFIP materials and policy definitions, you will often see “manufactured (mobile) home,” treating them as the same concept for coverage and floodplain rules.
